6. Adding and shifting points
After having inserted the measuring panoramas you can start the main task of designing a scenery, i.e. construction of the geometry. To do so, the ground and obstacles of the scenery are being decomposed to adequate small even partial surfaces and provided with appropriate material properties. Please observe the following:
- The position of the partial surfaces will be defined by the coordinates of their vertexes in three-dimensional space.
- Position the vertexes at distinctive positions which are well visible and precisely localisable on the location panorama as well as at least on one measuring panorama.
- The space which is available to generate the scenery is a spherical volume with the camera position of the location panorama as its center and a radius of 1000 metres.
- In the near surroundings of pilots location, the geometry needs to be created more exactly and detailed compared to the geometry at larger distances.
- Already from a distance of a few hundred metres on, the displayed flight model is so tiny that the scenery geometry only needs to be created very roughly.
- Within the security area, the scenery geometry practically does not need to be designed.
In order to create points, you should generally use the window Location panorama:
- Point the cursor roughly to the part of the location panorama which is designated for the new point.
- Press the key <F2>. The new point will show up as a small red-white marking in the location panorama window as well as in the measuring panorama windows:
Move the point exactly to the required position on the location panorama with help of the mouse, e.g. as shown above on the crossing of the white lines. On the measuring panorama S1, the point will firstly not appear at the correct position. Move the mouse wheel until the point is also positioned on the crossing on the measuring panorama.
Please note that the point on the location panorama will only apparently remain at the same position when turning the mouse wheel. On the measuring panorama it is visible that the point is moving on a straight line towards or away from the camera position of the location panorama. Conditional on measuring errors the point on the measuring panorama will not always move exactly through the target point as displayed in the example. In any case it is important to have an exact positioning on the site panorama.
- Press the left mouse button once in order to finish the inserting of the point at the current position. Or press the key <ESC> in order to truncate the action.
If a surface is already selected while inserting a new point, the depth of this point will automatically be calculated in order to lie on a layer which is defined by the surface. To shift a point, click it with the left mouse button and drag it to the required position while holding the mouse button. You can also change the depth of the point by turning the mouse wheel. Release the mouse button in order to finish the shifting.
